Ukrainian Boeing 737 Shot Down Unintentionally

Iran finally admits shooting down the Ukrainian jetliner. A military official stated on Friday that they mistook the jetliner for an enemy target as it ‘took the flying posture and altitude of an enemy target’ and ‘unintentionally’ fired at the plane on Tuesday. There were 167 passengers and nine crew members from several countries perished in the unfortunate incident, 82 Iranians, at least 63 Canadians and 11 Ukrainians, according to officials.

Ukrainian International Airlines went down on the outskirts of Tehran immediately after took off from Iran’s airport, just hours after Iran launched a barrage of missiles at US forces. Onlooker took a video also recorded the whole even as it unfold. In the video it showed a projectile suddenly hit the Boeing 737 flying through the night sky. Trails of flames which grew in intensity follow suit immediately. The stricken airliner has no chance to recover and headed towards the ground and crashed.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, however, quickly blame Trump for the regrettable tragedy, said ‘US adventurism’ was to blame for the strike a week after an American drone killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq. He further said in his statement:

 ‘A sad day. Preliminary conclusions of internal investigation by Armed Forces: Human error at time of crisis caused by US adventurism led to disaster. ‘

 ‘Our profound regrets, apologies and condolences to our people, to the families of all victims, and to other affected nations.’

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani acknowledged the country’s ‘disastrous mistake’ on Twitter;

 ‘Armed Forces’ internal investigation has now concluded that regrettably missiles fired due to human error caused the horrific crash of the Ukrainian plane & death of 176 innocent people. Investigations continue to identify & prosecute this great tragedy & unforgivable mistake,’

 ‘The Islamic Republic of Iran deeply regrets this disastrous mistake. My thoughts and prayers go to all the mourning families. I offer my sincerest condolences.’

Pompeo was the first US official to confirm the intelligence judgments publicly.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau immediately Twitted and called for a full investigation into the matter ‘to be convinced beyond all doubt,

 ‘Tonight, Iran acknowledged that Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 was shot down by its own armed forces,’

 ‘Our focus remains closure, accountability, transparency, and justice for the families and loved ones of the victims. This is a national tragedy, and all Canadians are mourning together. We will continue working with our partners around the world to ensure a complete and thorough investigation, and the Canadian government expects full cooperation from Iranian authorities.’

He said: ‘We recognize that this may have been done accidentally. The evidence suggests very clearly a possible and probable cause for the crash.’
