You are on your 1^st ever flying lesson and while in the air your instructor passed out ….

Imagine landing your first aircraft on your first few minutes of  flying lesson. Prior to that, zero experience whatsoever. This is what happened to trainee pilot Max Sylvestor  when his instructor pass out during their first flying lesson. Amazingly he did a text book landing earning praise from everyone on the ground including his wife and children.

Well, talking about calmness, he still manages to cracked a joke during the ordeal “…I hope they don’t think I’m paying for this flight…”. Luckily he already got his first supporter, non other than the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) how guided him every step till touch down “…if they make you pay for it I’ll pay for it with my own wallet..” ATC replied.

Thank God both pilots are OK. Mike Silvestor was discharged shortly after admitted into the hospital for check-up, while his instructor in a serious but stable condition. Mr Sylvester credited studying prior to getting into the cockpit for his ability to handle the intense situation he was thrown into at the weekend.

“It was adrenaline and my knowledge of flying, which I love, that kept us going,” he said this afternoon.

“If I hadn’t studied I wouldn’t be here, it’s as simple as that.

“I was pretty messed up and it was hard to know my instructor wasn’t well and it was just a case of getting us down to the ground safely.”

 One thing for sure, he earned his first solo on the first flight!
