It’s Official Now! We have a Humanoid-Robot in the Internal Space Station

Skybot F-850 from Russia, a 180cm tall humanoid robot will spent the next two weeks with the International Space Station (ISS) crews and return to earth on Sept 7. It left earth 24th of August.

While it is not the first of its kind in Space, in 2011 and 2013, NASA and Japan both sent the Robonaut 2 and Kirobo to the ISS with the aim of working in high-risk environments. The Skybot however is of a different class and purposed built for more serious space task. To begin with, the Skybot is designed and made to withstand hostile working environment in space to even withstand severe vibrations during launch. The onboard Artificial Intelligence enables it to move autonomously or as per required can even be the ‘avatar’ for astronauts onboard the ISS. It featured advance human like hands which capable of handling standard ‘human’ tools: fire extinguisher, electrical drill, operating valves, doors and etc …

While it is still no way to replace human space, one thing is certain, it does not require oxygen and that gives it a lot of future advantages in space. Space centre to Humanoid, “You are hired!!”
